PROPOSED TOWN CHARTER & PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The second public hearing for the proposed town charter will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brick Meeting House (click here to view the notice).  To view the proposed charter click here.  Prior versions of the charter and the presentations presented by the Selectboard at the October and December informational meetings can be viewed on Selectboard page on the town’s website (http://www.westfordvt.us/selectboard.php).

The selectboard is sponsoring an Australian ballot article for your consideration, at our 2012 Town Meeting, proposing the adoption of a governing town charter.  The selectboard recently mailed a document to all households with registered voters explaining what a charter is, why the board feels it is time for a charter and a Q&A section from the two forums held in October and December 2011. The document can be viewed on the town's website (click here).  Voters will vote on this change of governance on March 6, 2012.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns please contact the selectboard at selectboard@westfordvt.us or attend one of the upcoming public hearings (Jan. 23, 7pm at the Westford School, Feb. 9, 7pm at the Red Brick Meeting House, and March 5, 7pm at the Westford School).
